The Endowment Fund for Norwalk City Schools

Norwalk's Investment in Educational Excellence

PURPOSE

The Endowment Fund for Norwalk City Schools is a community-based organization designed to provide a stable source of funding for non-required school programs. Its purpose is to fund programming in areas such as music, art, drama, and other extracurricular activities. The Endowment’s funds are not used for basic school programs. Contributions to The Endowment Fund will be professionally invested and remain untouched. A percentage of the income will be designated each year for student scholarships, faculty grants, and the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center. The number of scholarships awarded and faculty grants continues to increase.

FUND DISTRIBUTION CATEGORIES

Donations, which are tax-deductible, may be made to any of these categories:

  • Unrestricted
  • Scholarships
  • Academic Grants
  • Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center

(Gifts made with no designation will be allocated to the "Unrestricted" category.)

FUND MANAGEMENT

A Board of Trustees has been established to manage The Endowment Fund.  The nine-member board includes alumni, community leaders, and representatives from the district.  The Trustees work with the Superintendent and the Board of Education to fulfill the objectives of The Endowment Fund.

The Endowment Fund for Norwalk City Schools is strictly governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.  All funds paid out are subject to audit and must conform to strict requirements.  This assures the integrity of The Endowment Fund.  The Fund has been established as a part of the Fund for Huron County.
